A cougar for Change, a new campus environmental group, is working to educate students about conservation. The group formed out of Power of One, a Sisters of Mercy conference held last May.

The group will hold “Trayless Tuesday” in the cafeteria every week during this school year. To put it simply, no trays will be available. Cougars for Change members hope the effort reduces water use and the amount of wasted food.

The group is also planning “earth hour”, which will be held September 23 from 9 to 10 p.m.  This nationwide event asks everyone on campus to turn off their lights for the hour.  Outdoors events include ultimate Frisbee, with a light-up Frisbee, and flashlight tag, in which students are asked to bring their own flashlights.
