With the 2007 season in the books, the women’s soccer team has reloaded their squad and has prepared for their first season in the Mid-Atlantic conference (MAC).  With six seniors starters graduated and gone, Coach Mark Stauffer calls this year’s squad “young, very talented, and ready to win.”

Stauffer says what really matters is the MAC finals.

“Wins and Losses don’t really matter to us until the playoffs start, as long as we prepare for the playoffs,” he said.

The MAC should provide good competition for MU this year.  MU is currently picked fourth in the MAC pre-season poll based on a point scale.  The toughest competition in the MAC for MU this year will most likely be Eastern, Wilkes, and Manhattanville.

Eastern is ranked number one at 72 points and has been “tabbed the favorite” according to MU Athletics. Wilkes University is ranked at 61 points, followed by Manhattanville at 59 and MU at 55 points.

This year’s ‘Player to Watch’ is Kim Suchoski, the 2007 Player of the Year and one of the top returnees for the Cougars.
