Lil’ Cougars Camp for Boys & Girls, ages 6-12 offers three weeks of camps designed to encourage active participation, develop educational and creative thinking skills, and include an element of physical activity. Lil’ Cougars Camps include:
“Blast Off’ ’– Participants learn how to turn recyclables into treasures; art projects, musical instruments, science experiments and much more, with an emphasis on having fun and thinking "green."
“Beavers, Bats & Bears! Oh My!!” – Campers uncover clues through literature and solving puzzles. The camp investigates mysteries found in science and history using detective skills.
“Lights. Camera, Action” – Participants create a variety of puppets, perform skits and plays and learn to write poetry.
Dance Camp, Boys and Girls, ages 6-10, from 10:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Anderson Center. The camp is for boys and girls who are interested in dance and have either no experience with dance or a lot of experience. Kids get up and moving in this fun and fast-paced class. Individualized instruction features ballet, jazz, tap, creative dance and street funk. For those interested, a swim session is also included.
New this year, the “KIDS ACT UP!” Theater Camp in the Lemmond Theater is presented by the Northeast Youth Theatre Company (NYT), and the schedule includes theatre games, creative drama and fun improvisation, along with methods to approach scripted scenes and strategies to develop characters based on the age and experience of the young actor. It also features a theatre dance workshop and professional musical theatre vocal instruction, projection, and acting through singing exercises. NYT is under the direction of Gina Major Ackerman, former professional stage/film actress/vocalist. She is the owner and director of Major Performing Arts Center.
School Age Tennis Camp for Boys and Girls, ages 7-12, 9 a.m. - 12 noon. High school age, 3-6 p.m.
Little Lappers, Mini-Mates, and School Age Swim Classes - Classes are being scheduled for Little Lappers, pre-schoolers, ages 2, 3 and 4; Mini Mates, ages 2 months to 3 years old; and School Age.
