Students can often be found outside of McHale Hall playing football, tossing around a baseball, or kicking around a soccer ball. But students have started following a different sport - ultimate Frisbee.
This has prompted students to form their very own club dedicated to the sport.
The Ultimate Frisbee Organization held its first meeting on Thursday October 16, 2008 in the Anderson Sports Center.
UFO was formed as a club sport of the university and hopes to soon form an official ultimate team, said UFO President James McDonagh. UFO runs ultimate Frisbee games every Monday and Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in front of McHale Hall and is looking for both male and female participants.
UFO is planning on reaching out to the community’s youth for their service project. The club is planning an “Ultimate Day” which will teach children in the Back Mountain area how to play the game of Ultimate Frisbee.
“I want everyone to learn the rules of the game, get a team together, and start competing,” said McDonagh.
